SCB Steelers Wrap-Up; Steelers Hang 51 on the Colts

I don’t think it was a surprise to anyone that there was a lot of scoring in today’s game but 85 points? Hope you took the ‘over’ friends. The Steelers offense scored 44 points while the defense got in on the act with a pick-six from William Gay. Either way, it was a welcome victory as the Steelers move to 5-3 on the season.

-Beautiful opening drive by the Steelers. A very nice mix of run and pass with the pass setting up the run. Good protection, good job by the WRs in execution.

-Where has this offense been? What a difference Martavis Bryant has made in two games. It was all perfect for the rookie though as he dropped a perfect pass from Ben Roethlisberger in the second half that halted a drive.

-Outstanding football from William Gay on his pick-six. Great fundamental cornerback play. Broke as soon as he saw Nicks breakdown for the pass.

-Two extremely questionable defensive calls on the Steelers allowed the Colts to put that first TD on the board. The NFL needs and wants close games but that was ridiculous.

-Martavis Bryant’s impact cannot be mentioned enough. He’s not only forcing secondaries to honor him but he’s making catches too.

– A nice, quiet start for Antonio Brown then he makes an unbelievable touchdown grab. He might be the best WR in football right now.He finished with 10 receptions for 133 yards and two touchdowns.

-What can you say about that offensive line? Furthermore, how about Mike Adams who along with his teammates didn’t give up one sack today.

-I just don’t have anything positive to say about Cortez Allen. I know he’s giving the effort but he just isn’t playing well and his fundamentals seem to have only gotten worse.

-I didn’t like the decision to use Big Ben to punt the ball which ended up getting blocked. Teams know it’s coming now and the Colts did too. It was fourth and four and would have been a 52-yard field goal attempt. I have no issue with not going for the field goal, but be aggressive and go for the first down.

-What I did like was the aggressiveness on the fourth and short in the second half. Beautiful execution by the players and a whale of play-call.

-You know this by now but Ben Roethlisberger became the first quarterback in NFL history to have two 500-yard plus passing games. His line of of 40 of 49 for 522 yards and six touchdowns is just unreal. This is also is 100th win in 150 career games.

-I think Dick LeBeau has finally resigned himself to the fact that he is just going to have to bring the blitz in order to get pressure consistently.

-What a match-up set for next Sunday night. Steelers. Ravens. Both 5-3. The Ravens are 0-2 against Cincinnati while the Steelers haven’t played them yet.

“I just don’t have anything positive to say about Cortez Allen.”

I hate to put so much on one guy… but I feel like he’s the reason this game was even close. That being said, he’s not getting burnt. He’s in position it seems like on every play, and just is turned around and can’t locate the ball.

I’m not sure… but maybe that’s encouraging? Seems there would be a reason he could improve.

That being said. He needs to ride some pine… Seriously. Brice McCain and William Gay are playing great right now, and I’d be willing to give Blake more snaps.

You’re absolutely right about him being in position but have you ever seen a guy wit worse coordination and ball skills at the CB position? His timing is always off…
