SCB Steelers Training Camp Tidbits Day Nineteen

by Steeldad

Welcome to the new Steel City Blitz Steelers Training Camp Tidbits presented by Taps N’At! This is a brand new feature this year and every single day from now until the end of Camp you’ll see tidbits right here. Our goal is simple; provide you with everything we are seeing, hearing and learning from St. Vincent College in Latrobe.

If you’re going….

Steelers Practice for Tuesday 8/14: 255pm Eastern

Latrobe Weather for Tuesday 8/14: 76 degrees and T-Storms

On the injury front… T.J. Watt missed yet another practice today… JuJu Smith-Schuster was not practicing on the turf fields which were being utilized due to the damp conditions… Ramon Foster was on the field without his knee brace… Antonio Brown limped off the field but appears to be fine. And then there’s this…

Today’s practice got off to a late start due to some heavy rains that came into area.

Damoun Patterson continued his solid camp with more solid routes and catches. Not to be outdone, James Washington also had a couple of great catches over Brian Allen and Joe Haden according to several reports and videos.

There are so many storylines happening in camp right now but how the backup quarterbacks shake is among the most interesting. I’ll be STUNNED if they keep four and I’ll be even more stunned if they trade Landry Jones.

The Steelers made two moves in the last 24 hours. Offensive Tackle Tyler Meadows and Center Parker Collins were both waived/injured. Signed were OT Zach Banner and C Oni Omoile. Banner is the son of former NFL tackle Lincoln Kennedy.

Ben Roethlisberger continues to heap praise on the defense. He would know, he sees them everyday. The problem is that many of the best performances are coming from secondary guys and the ones that are really heard from are the linebackers. The only exception to that has been Vince Williams who has had a very good camp.

Mike Tomlin was very pleased with practice today. He liked his team’s “energy” despite the delay and weather issues.

Still plenty of time to get over to Taps N’At for a cold beer and some great grub! They’d appreciate it and so would we!
