SCB Steelers Training Camp Tidbits Day Nine

by Steeldad

Welcome to the new Steel City Blitz Steelers Training Camp Tidbits presented by Taps N’At! This is a brand new feature this year and every single day from now until the end of Camp you’ll see tidbits right here. Our goal is simple; provide you with everything we are seeing, hearing and learning from St. Vincent College in Latrobe.

If you’re going….

Steelers Practice for Friday: Noon to 6pm ET Steelers Fest in Latrobe, 7pm practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium

Latrobe Weather for Friday: 76 degrees with scattered T-Storms (60% chance)

Latest on the injury front… For the second straight day Antonio Brown was not practicing. His injury was not disclosed but not thought to be serious either. T.J. Watt also on the shelf with a groin injury. Alejandro Villanueva was at practice but in shorts and t-shirt according to Joe Rutter of the Trib.

Mike Tomlin revealed that Antonio Brown will head to Pittsburgh for what he described as a “day-to-day” injury. I’m not going to get too excited over this. It could likely be an MRI which still doesn’t mean it’s something serious. For now? Let’s all breathe shall we?

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said today that Coty Sensabaugh feels the secondary locker room is significantly better than at this time last year. This isn’t a surprise and supports what we’ve been told for several years. I’ll let you do the math to figure it out.

Transaction time: The Steelers waived DL/OLB Darnell Leslie and TE Ryan Malleck while signing TE Bucky Hodges on OT Kyle Meadows. Hodges is from Virginia Tech and was drafted in the seventh round of last year’s draft by the Vikings. He has good size at 6’6″ and 236lbs. Meadows is from the University of Kentucky.

Very conflicting reports about Xavier Grimble. One minute he makes a solid play and the next he’s gets beaten badly.

Big Dan McCullers had a minor scrum with center Patrick Morris today and Morris ended up without his helmet. Speaking of McCullers, I have to give him credit. I thought the Steelers re-signing him was a mistake. We’ve seen more than enough of him haven’t we? I guess not. He’s been a much better player so far in camp. Whether that’s due to him or to Coach Dunbar or both doesn’t matter. Good for him.

You know a great place to go after the Friday night practice??? Taps N’At in Derry of course. It’s just a few miles away and it will have the cold beverages you are looking for!
