SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: Tomlin at the Mic

by Steeldad

Good day Steelers’ Fans!

Mike Tomlin’s weekly press conference will be held at Noon Eastern today. Check it out live on steelers.com.

Likely topics will include the status of several players beginning with Cam Heyward who is likely out 2-3 weeks with his bad hamstring. Also of note will be Robert Golden and Ryan Shazier. I’m also curious to hear if anyone asks Tomlin about Ryan Harris and Senquez Golson heading to Injured Reserve.

Total respect for Sammie Coates… Ya he dropped three passes but he had an excuse. 17 stitches in his hand that later had to be re-stitched after the game.

As usual, trick plays always catch my attention and the Steelers’ failed fake field goal earned my wrath yesterday.

I’ve already seen a lot of discussion about this week being a ‘trap’ game in Miami. I think it has all of the makings of such a game with New England on the horizon but this is where the veterans and Mike Tomlin need to step up. The Dolphins are already a seemingly defeated bunch and the Steelers need to jump on them early.

Ben Roethlisberger leads the league in touchdown passes with 15. That puts him on a pace for 45 TD passes this season.

Tweet of the Day… I thought the same thing when my ESPN alert went off at 3am!!

Ladarius Green remains on target for a week seven return against the Patriots. As they say, I’ll see it when I believe it but my goodness what a weapon he would be if can return.

I’m not saying it would have been an easy play but Ross Cockrell has to make that interception in front of Brandon Marshall. Marshall of course caught it for a touchdown and in the grand scheme of things it didn’t matter but those are the types of plays that guys have to make.

I have a feeling, if you read Dejan Kovacevic’s article over at DKonPittsburghSports.com, that Antonio Brown needs a bit of a smackdown from his locker room. Complaining about the number of balls thrown to him, the constant shoe issues and the dancing aren’t going to endear him to too many people if he keeps it up.

Cannot say enough about the effort of the offensive line and Chris Hubbard in particular Sunday. The challenge will be there again this week with a pretty good Dolphins’ front line.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
