SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Will He or Won’t He” Edition

Good Tuesday to you Steelers’ Fans!

I suppose the “he” in the title could be directed at either Le’Veon Bell or Alejandro Villanueva considering both feel they have the right to not show up for Training Camp. In Bell’s case he won’t want to risk injury. Keep in mind he hasn’t signed his franchise tender yet either. Big Al would hold out simply because he wants more money. The Steelers have only to pay him $615,000 this season but he clearly believes he’s worth a long-term deal. Stay tuned on both ends.

The Steelers revealed the patch the team will wear this season in honor of Dan Rooney.

Here’s the first of our Training Camp Previews posted earlier this morning.

Tweet of the Day… Have to love JuJu.

NFL Camps have already starting opening around the league including Dallas and Oakland. The Cowboys are dealing with off-field issues like Ezekiel Elliott who is likely facing a short suspension and they’ve released Lucky Whitehead who was caught shoplifting. Yes, an NFL player shoplifting.

I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention that Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones will serve a one game suspension for his continued off-field issues. How anyone can look at that franchise and not wonder how it hasn’t imploded is beyond me.

As we do each year, we always have people at camp who we trust with player evaluation. Sometimes it’s one of us and sometimes it isn’t. What I can tell you is that we will give you honest takes as always and will attempt to do so with the least amount of hyperbole as possible.

Arthur Moats is a fan favorite in Pittsburgh and why shouldn’t he be? He’s extremely active in the community and gives everything he has on Sundays. I think fans need to be prepared however for his potential departure. Unless the Steelers move him inside where the team is dangerously thin I think his roster spot could be in jeopardy. Moats has a cap hit of over $2.8 million for 2017 so if a younger player can fill his shoes at a much lower price then he becomes expendable. Plus, Moats doesn’t play much on special teams either. Just food for thought.
