SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Tomlin Talks Today” Edition

Good Tuesday to you Steelers’ Fans!

Today is of course the players’ day off in Pittsburgh but it’s also the day Head Coach Mike Tomlin addresses the media. Last week he was less than thrilled about the questions regarding Le’Veon Bell and this week is potentially shaping up to be similar. With James Harrison not seeing the field on Sunday, then leaving the locker room immediately after the game, you can expect some similar treatment for Tomlin.

With both the Steelers and Ravens poised for 3-0 starts, their week four matchup suddenly looks quite enticing. The Ravens did however suffer a major blow with guard Marshall Yanda going down for the season with a broken leg. Either way, I’m not surprised by Baltimore’s start and I expect them to give the Steelers a very hard time.

I’m going to remain positive that the offense will come around. I really do think some of it has to do with a lack of work in game situations in the preseason. I think the absence of Le’Veon Bell is a valid issue as well. The Bears have a decent defense but I see no reason for this not to be the week that the offense starts clicking.

Tweet of the Day… The guys got a little downtime thanks to the new ‘Call of Duty’ video game.

The Bears rank 25th in total defense. The Steelers are 5th. Chicago is 19th in total offense while the Steelers are 15th. Draw your own conclusions.

No winner in last week’s ‘Nail the Number.’ The pot moves to $1,200 and chances are, Craig will add more prizes to it.

If you’re into WPIAL (Western PA HS Football), then please check out Ian’s stuff. It is the BEST insight into the action and I’m not just saying that. As part of that, make sure you check out WMBS for great Steelers and WPIAL content!

I’ll never understand the love affair so many fans have with Mike Mitchell. I think he plays hard, he hits with everything he has and often plays through injuries. As a cover safety though I remain unimpressed and as far as his angles on tackles? I can’t help but wonder how he did in geometry.

If you look at the list of leading tacklers in the NFL you won’t find a Steeler in the top 30. I think that’s a good sign because it means guys are getting to the ball and making plays so other guys don’t feel the need to make every play.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
