SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “They Beat’em Worse Than We Did” Edition

Good Tuesday to you Steelers’ Fans!

If you read national writer Peter King, yes the one who drools over Tom Brady and the Pats, then you may have seen his comments on Mike Tomlin’s message to his players. As they entered the locker room following their win Sunday in Baltimore, Tomlin impressed upon them there was little time to celebrate. “A hot Jacksonville team coming in and they beat them worse than we did!” He was of course referring to the Jaguars’ 44-7 win over the Ravens in London. The old adage is you celebrate for 24 hours then move on to the next opponent. Tomlin sees an opportunity here to get an AFC win at home before heading to Kansas City and Detroit and isn’t sticking to that old saying. I can’t blame him with the back end of the schedule being what it is.

Eli Rogers wasn’t denied a helmet Sunday solely for his fumbled punt against the Bears. He’s struggling to get open and his blocking isn’t on par with that of JuJu Smith-Schuster either. Whether he can continues to be a healthy scratch or not I cannot say but it doesn’t look good. He had one of his best games last year against Baltimore and didn’t even see the field against them Sunday.

Vance McDonald didn’t record a catch Sunday but actually he did. He made a very nice catch and run for a first down that was nullified by a penalty. Then of course he had a drop that killed a drive. I’ll say this for him though; he did a very solid job of blocking especially on the move leading into the hole for Le’Veon Bell.

Tweet of the Day… JuJu!

As much as it pains me to say, I think we’ve written off the Bengals way too fast. Under their new Offensive Coordinator Bill Lazor they’ve thrived and more importantly Andy Dalton looks more like the QB they expect to see in Cincinnati. Suddenly the Steelers may actually have some competition in the division.

Tweet of the Day #2… It’s coming back!!

I heard the argument that Joe Flacco doesn’t have any weapons. Huh?? Mike Wallace and Jeremy Maclin aren’t weapons? Yes the Ravens are banged up but let’s not act like they don’t have some athletes.

Despite his injured ankle I thought Sean Davis played a better game than he had so far in the season. He was much better in terms of tackling for the Steelers.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!!
