SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Thanks for Nothing” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans!

While I realize this is the week for giving thanks, I’m giving no such thing to the Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders or Cleveland Browns. While certainly not unexpected, all three teams failed miserably in their attempts to give our Steelers a little breathing room at the top of the AFC. The Ravens shut out our next opponent, the Packers 23-0 while the Patriots had no trouble with the Raiders who have to be one of the NFL’s biggest disappointments. Then of course there’s the Browns who fought valiantly but couldn’t knock off the Jaguars. Perhaps in some way this is a good thing. Maybe the urgency to keep winning will fuel the Steelers to keep pressing forward.

On the bright side, the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the New York Giants in overtime. They’ve now lost four of five and are talking about benching Alex Smith. My how things can change in this league.

Atlanta demolished the Georgia Dome today. This is sad in two ways. First, it will create all kinds of social media fodder for those wanting to remind Falcons’ fans of their teams’ “implosion” in the Super Bowl. Secondly, this is the new norm. That building opened in 1992 meaning it was just 25 years old. Make no mistake, this is all about keeping up with the ‘short attention span’ crowd who constantly need new things tho make them want to attend games.

Tweet of the Day… DWill still trolling Cowboys’ fans.

I certainly hope the Steelers aren’t looking past the Packers. Yes, they looked absolutely atrocious yesterday at home but the Steelers usually find ways to make these games competitive and that isn’t a compliment. They need to bury them early and often on Sunday.

Hard to believe but it’s already time to talk “Pro Bowl.” Here’s my look at the Pittsburgh guys who could earn an invite.

With the WPIAL Championships in the book make sure you check out Ian’s latest.

From Peter King’s MMQB this morningCam Heyward is the most underrated great player in football. Hard for any Steeler to be underrated, but he’s the best all-around defensive lineman they’ve had since Aaron Smith—and he was underrated too. He’s not underrated around here Mr. King I guarantee you that.

Have a great Monday Steeler Nation!
