SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Thank Goodness That’s Over” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Monday Steelers’ Fans!

I’m pretty sure the NFL Pro Bowl stopped being interesting to me when I was 10. The older I get the more concerned I am that one of our Steelers will just get hurt in this meaningless scrimmage. As of this writing I’m happy to report that it appears all ten Steelers have come away unscathed. This has been a horrible week for me. Seeing all of our talent in this game and not in the Super Bowl makes me ill. Ya, maybe I need to re-think my views but then again, no, I won’t. The Pro Bowl stinks. And it’s even worse this year knowing what SHOULD have been. Thank goodness it’s over.

From the “I wish I was surprised” department… ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported yesterday that Le’Veon Bell and the Steelers aren’t quite as close on a contract as we’ve been led to believe. Last week Bell said both he and the Steelers were “happy” with the progress. I just don’t have a good feeling about his return.

From the good news section… There was no shortage of good performances from the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday. Three guys the Steelers may have their sights set on were Inside Linebackers Darius Leonard (SC State)and Fred Warner (BYU) and Safety Trayvon Henderson (Hawaii). Each guy had a positive showing in the game and could easily be day two or three selections.

Tweet of the Day… Something I never thought I would see. EVER.

Make sure you check out Cnic’s Steelers’ Three-Round Mock Draft. Agree? Disagree? Remember it’s early.

Returning to Bell for a moment… Don’t be surprised if this contract situation is even uglier than last year. I’m hearing things so I’ll just leave it at that.

As the Steelers now head into the offseason it’s actually a busy time for us at SCB. We will scout hundreds of potential draft picks, look at dozens of potential free agents and Ian will have his Bracketology and Winter Olympic posts as well. So if you thought we were slowing down because the players get some much needed rest, you forget it. We’ll be right here each and every day.

Have a great Monday Steeler Nation!
