SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Spring Break” Edition

TGIF my Steelers’ Friends!!

By Noon Eastern today, yours truly will officially be on Spring Break. That does not mean I’ll be on ‘break’ from the Steelers so rest assured you’ll still get the same type of thing you’ve grown accustomed  to here at SCB. That said, I will definitely be getting some rest and enjoying some much needed time with the family.

I was very honored last night to be on the “Thursday Night Tailgate” Podcast with Chris Mascaro and Bob Lazzari. Their show features players from predominantly football and baseball and I had to follow former Pirate Al Oliver. What a storyteller he is! Anyway, much thanks to those guys and I highly recommend listening. Lots of former Steelers (Randy Fuller was on last night too) appear on the show.

The “Martavis Watch” continues… Let me stress, I DO NOT believe Roger Goodell has evil intentions here towards the Steelers. If he does not reinstatement Bryant BEFORE the Draft? Then Goodell will deserve whatever hatred and anger we can spew at him. Bryant’s status will have a tremendous impact on how the Steelers approach the draft.

Tweet of the Day… Former Steeler LaMarr Woodley on one of his many new ventures.

Really good stuff from the wonderful Teresa Varley on Alejandro Villanueva over at steelers.com.

Keep up with our Draft Journals! We are approaching 50 different prospects now with many more to come.

Let’s assume the Steelers draft a safety in round one as some think they will. Does that mean they move Sean Davis to a corner? Davis played some CB at Maryland but was much better at his current position so I can’t see that happening. Does it mean you cut Mike Mitchell? As nuts as Mitchell makes me at times I can’t see that happening either. I just don’t get the thinking of a safety in round one period.

Steelers’ writer Ray Fittapaldo appears to be drinking the same kool-aid many other fans are. His mock draft has Carl Lawson in the first and Fabian Moreau in the second. This makes zero sense to me. Lawson, who has battled more than one significant injury at Auburn, is one-dimensional. He doesn’t stop the run and he doesn’t hustle when the ball goes away from him. Then he wants Moreau, who is on the shelf for 4-6 months with a torn pectoral muscle. We already have an injury-prone CB in Senquez Golson. Do we really need another injured corner? The Steelers need guys who are going to be available sooner rather than later.

Have an outstanding weekend Steeler Nation!
