SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Silver Lining” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans!

I like Ramon Foster a lot as a person. I like Ramon Foster as a player too. I am disheartened to hear of his injury but am also glad to hear it is not likely to be too serious. From all accounts it’s a bone bruise accompanied by an MCL sprain which likely knocks him out for the next few weeks. Just a day earlier, reports surfaced that the 32-year old guard was looking for a contract extension as he becomes a free agent following the season. As I stated above, I’ve always liked Foster as a person because he’s honest, funny and is willing chat with the media unlike most of players. I’ve liked him as a player because of the effort and fortitude he’s shown to make himself into a starting player in the NFL. All that said, I do not believe you give a contract extension to him. I firmly believe he entered this year with B.J. Finney already breathing down his neck for the left guard starting spot. So why on Earth do I suggest that Foster’s injury could be a silver lining? Because now, Finney will run with the first team a lot more than he would have and the injury also allows other guys fighting for a roster spot the chance to slide into those second and third team spots. Foster isn’t going to suddenly forget how to play football so I believe the time off won’t be an issue of major significance for him. Were this a much more serious injury I may have thought differently.

Last year, rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster became an immediate fan favorite at Training Camp. His play throughout the season did nothing to diminish that. Already, first round draft pick Terrell Edmunds is giving JuJu a run for his money. Well after many players had already showered and left for their private dwellings after practice, Edmunds was still signing autographs. Two of our “camp spies” told us they believe he may have signed an autograph for every single person who remained at camp. This is not easy to do by any stretch and Edmunds deserves major kudos for spending so much time with the fans.

Tweet of the Day… This say a lot about Chuks. He had a tough day on the practice field and could have easily walked off but didn’t. He went over and spent time with the fans. Classy move rook!

Dez Bryant to the Steelers? Antonio Brown just loves messing with the fans and media. He’s getting as good at it as Big Ben is.

A really good piece from Michael about one of the newest members of the Steelers’ Hall of Honor Rocky Bleier.

John Harbaugh is 40-40 over his last 80 games. Thought you’d like to know.

For most of us it’s just a cute thing to see but for them it has to be a really cool experience that you cherish for life. On the practice field yesterday Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown had their children running around. At one point Ben Jr looped a ‘long’ pass to AB Jr who caught it and ran for a TD. For both guys it had to have been a very cool and special moment.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
