Good Wednesday to you fine people who proudly wear the Black and Gold!
Yesterday at the Pittsburgh Steelers’ OTA session, wide receiver Sammie Coates pulled off the glove on his left hand to finally reveal what plagued him for most of the season in 2016. You can check out Ed Bouchette’s report on the hand here but what I can tell you from looking at it is that the index finger is indeed pretty messed up. That said, I don’t think it was nearly as bad as I had imagined.
That said, it clearly affected Coates both physically and mentally. He was an absolute beast during the first few weeks of the season in 2016 and after the injury happened he was never the same. I’m certainly not going to judge but does he have something to prove? Darn right he does.
Chris Garman shares his two cents on the Steelers’ signing of safety and special teams’ guru Daimion Stafford.
JuJu Smith-Schuster is reportedly getting time in the slot. I’m not surprised by this despite my belief that he’s a better outside receiver than inside. What’s happening here is two things; The Steelers want him to be able to play anywhere and they love his blocking. I look for him to be all over the formation if he can handle the playbook which is never an easy task for a rookie.
Tweet of the Day… The Steelers’ rookies spent the afternoon with the Pirates.

Very sad to hear that John Clayton, a long time NFL guy at ESPN has been relieved of his duties. Clayton of course had long history of covering the Steelers (including one kind of unfortunate incident) before moving on to Seattle and then ESPN. When Clayton came on the TV, I paid attention.
