SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Riddler Returns” Edition

Good Wednesday to you Steelers’ Fans!

After bringing back Fitzgerald Toussaint on a one year deal, the Steelers have done the same with running back Stevan Ridley. I don’t know if he goes by “The Riddler” or not but I’m certainly in favor of this nickname. I do not and I repeat I DO NOT think this will alter whether or not the Steelers will draft a running back in a few weeks. Two reasons I feel this way. First, both of these guys are on one year contracts which makes it pretty easy to cut one or the other or both. Secondly, neither Fitz nor Ridley is a long-term solution. Kevin Colbert knows this is the last season that Le’Veon Bell plays in Pittsburgh barring an incredible change of heart and the two sides reach a long-term agreement. Therefore, it’s entirely possible that a running back is still on the priority list for the Steelers. Ridley performed well when his name was called late last season so that is certainly a positive.

Speaking of running backs… Cnic makes his argument about why Derrius Guice at pick 28 could make sense.

There was an article making the rounds yesterday that suggested the Steelers would trade for Rob Gronkowski. The fact that I’m commenting on it stuns even me but I digress… First off, the Patriots would not trade Gronk to a team that is a threat to them going to the Super Bowl. Secondly, why would the Steelers trade for a player who is already contemplating retirement and is often injured? He’s had back surgery, knee surgery, concussions and more. It makes zero sense simply because of what you’d have to give up. It’s incredibly “Un-Steeler-like.”

Tweet of the Day… Rob Golden is off to Kansas City. Good luck to him!

We’ll be recording the Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh tonight. Wake Forest defensive end/linebacker Wendell Dunn will join us to discuss his dinner with Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert and his thoughts on preparing for the NFL.

You can say what you want to about the way Antonio Brown lives his life. He has a lot of toys and spends a lot of money but nobody works harder than he does. Check out his instagram feed and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Ian lays out some of the Steelers’ first pre-draft visits right here.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
