TGIF my Steelers’ Friends!

The Baltimore Ravens suffered a serious blow to their defense during OTAs this week when second year cornerback Tavon Young went down with a torn ACL. Despite his smallish size, Young played very well in his rookie season in Baltimore and will likely be around for several more years of the Steelers-Ravens rivalry. Whether or not Young will miss the entire 2017 season is unclear at this time. It’s easy to sit back and gloat when you see you’re most hated rival lose a key player but for a good young player like this it’s never easy to take.

Speaking of injuries, the Steelers saw a second year guy of their own leave practice yesterday. Defensive lineman Javon Hargrave left the field with trainers and at the time was reportedly “not limping at all.” Well, there’s a reason he wasn’t limping. Dale Lolley of SNR says the injury is to Hargrave’s shoulder and is not thought to be serious. Let’s hope that’s the case.

Special appearance last night by the Cat of SteelDad on The Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. Literally, as I opened the show, he tangled himself in my cords and yanked the headset right off of my head. I swear ya can’t make this stuff up. Anyway… We went to discuss the tight end situation, Le’Veon Bell and Alejandro Villanueva and talked about Artie Burns’ comments about playing more man coverage. Listen in!

Tweet of the Day… A little ribbing from DWill.

Recent Master’s Degree recipient Arthur Moats hosted his “Moats for Coats Mini-Golf Classic” recently. Check out the link courtesy steelers.com.

Don’t forget if you have young kids Ben Roethlisberger is hosting his annual football camp at the Steelers’ Facility this year for the first time. I highly recommend it. It’s on Father’s Day June 18th.

Something I actually agree with for the most part from Gerry Dulac’s chat at the P-G.

Big John: Are the Steelers playing JuJu in the slot in OTAs? Do you think he can battle Rogers for,the starting slot position or do you see him playing outside at the Z spot behind Bryant? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac: No he is an outside guy who will back up AB and Bryant but play a lot in 3 and 4 wides.

I too believe Smith-Schuster is an outside guy but that doesn’t mean he won’t see some action in the slot. If he can prove he can handle each receiver position it just makes him that much more playable.

Best wishes to Steelers’ fan Carole Matteo as she recovers from surgery!!

Have a terrific weekend Steeler Nation!
