SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Bocephus is Back!” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans!

ESPN announced this morning that Hank Williams, Jr. will be returning to Monday Night Football. Six years ago he was removed from the pregame for political comments that compared Barack Obama to Hitler. (Note to self: Don’t compare anyone to Hitler.) Bocephus has long been one of my all-time favorites and I’m glad he’s coming back. “Are you ready for some football?!?!?!”

Today begins the next part of Phase Three in OTAs as the team returns to the practice facility for four days of work. Technically, today is OTA #7 and this portion will end on Thursday with OTA #10. As always, please remember to keep your expectations and enthusiasm to a realistic level as this is just “football in pajamas.” Last week, Mike Mitchell even called “basketball on grass.” While talent, size and speed etc change from level to level the one thing that doesn’t is when the pads come on. When that happens, guys either rise or they fall. It’s that simple.

In case you missed the Steelers’ Training Camp Schedule here it is in this awesome graphic from Ryan of the SCB Tech Department.

Our SCB Social Media Darling Tay will be on vacation soon. Don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll be tweeting like the mad woman she is.

Tweet of the Day… Former Steeler Nolan Harrison is watching the NBA Finals….

I’d like to congratulate the majority of Steelers’ fans who resisted in begging the Steelers to sign newly released wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. It’s habit for most to suggest the Steelers sign almost every person that gets released by another team. So hey, good job!

Lots of talk on Twitter about Mike Mitchell. Is he dirty? Is he just a hard-hitter? Frankly, I don’t care. What I care about is him being able to play free safety and being able to create more turnovers from that position. I also care about how poor his angles are and his penchant for biting on play-action fakes.

The Steelers reportedly have about $15 million in cap space right now. Keep in mind deals with Le’Veon Bell and Alejandro Villanueva may be looming.

Have some great new changes coming to the website soon. Keep you informed!!

Good luck to the Pens tonight. Not gonna lie, they’re in trouble if they don’t win tonight. Nashville is playing well.

Have a great Monday Steeler Nation!
