SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Mountain Out of a Molehill” Edition

Good Friday to you Steelers’ Fans!

If you thought political news was often guilty of taking a mundane story and turning it into a grand spectacle then have I got news for you! Move over political writers because football writers have jumped the shark. Just when I thought you couldn’t get any worse, National media writers and talking heads are tripping over themselves to call out the Steelers for “plundering” Le’Veon Bell’s former locker. This is yet another example of the ridiculousness of trying to get ‘clicks.’ So bad was the attention to this that Bud Dupree had to come out publicly to set the story straight. The fact that he had to do this was stupid. I have no other word for it than that. This entire thing was a joke people. They didn’t take anything. It was all boxed up and will be sent to Bell but don’t let that stop people from telling us how awful and morally offensive this was! These are clearly individuals who’ve had little experience inside a football locker room. What’s worse is that I shouldn’t have to be talking about anything related to Bell any longer but noooooo…. The Great Locker Caper just had to be discussed! Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. Sheesh. On to more important things.

It is not looking good for either Marcus Gilbert or Stephon Tuitt right now in terms of playing Sunday. Gilbert’s absence is far less concerning than Tuitt’s because Jacksonville will look to establish the run. No Tuitt in there means Tyson Alualu and company need to step up.

Tweet of the Day… Congrats to Stephon Tuitt and his wife!

I hate to say it but you should probably be rooting for the Ravens Sunday against the Bengals. A win by Baltimore would make both of those teams 5-5 while a Steelers’ win would move them to 7-2-1. That would give Pittsburgh a two-game lead over both in the win column and a three game lead in the loss column. As much confidence as I would I have in the Steelers winning a ‘winner-take-all’ game in Heinz Field to close the season against Cincinnati I’d prefer they had the division wrapped up prior to that.

Joey Bag of Donuts joined on the Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast 106 presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh last night to preview the Jaguars.

If you look across the landscape of people predicting the Steelers and Jaguars Sunday you’ll notice a lot of them are expecting a letdown by the Black and Gold. I have to admit I understand that thinking based upon past experiences. This Steelers’ team just feels different though doesn’t it?

Have a great weekend Steeler Nation!
