SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Let Go Deebo” Edition

Good Wednesday to you Steelers’ Fans!

Look. I get it. Seeing James Harrison go to the Patriots is like a knife to the back. It hurts and it’s sad. But let me add some levity to the situation. Do you really believe that Bill Belichick needs more ammo to beat the Steelers? Sure, he’ll get whatever he can from Deebo but his defense is thin at outside backer and Harrison will likely be used only as a situational pass rusher. As for Pittsburgh, we have to trust they felt Harrison was done as a player. Me personally? I would have cut Dan McCullers who has played 11 snaps all season. I still think Harrison is capable of getting to the passer a time or two late in games when the offensive line is exhausted. In the end, if Harrison goes on to haunt the Steelers in a potential AFC Title Game then it will only confirm what we already know. That Bill Belichick has the Steelers’ number plain and simple.

Ben and I discussed this and much more on the Steel City Blitz Podcast Presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh last night.

The major question going into the Browns’ game is whether Mike Tomlin will play key players and if so, for how long? Tomlin likely believes the Pats will beat the Jets regardless of who plays so that likely weighs into his decision making. With both games starting at 1pm I’d be scoreboard watching. If New England gets out early, then I’m pulling Le’Veon Bell, Ben Roethlisberger and a few more. If the Pats in are a dog fight? That might alter my thinking.

Tweet of the Day… Sound advice right here.

When the Steelers traded for tight end Vance McDonald I really believed this would prove to be one of Kevin Colbert’s best moves as General Manager. McDonald has been plagued by injuries but when he’s been healthy, he’s been a legitimate weapon in Big Ben’s arsenal of weapons. If he remains healthy, he could have a huge impact in the postseason.

This week has brought out a barrage of people from Buffalo owner Terry Pegula to Patriots’ lover Peter King screaming for changes to instant replay. I have been adamantly against replay since day one and I will continue to be this way. It has not fixed on field issues; in fact it has made them worse. It kills the flow of the game and it it fails at its number one purpose; getting calls right.

Have a wonderful Wednesday Steeler Nation!

First yes Harrison has something left in the tank. Second They should still have the 2 minute limit on replays. Third someone please take the replay flag from Tomlin and use it from time to time

Tomlin is bad at challenges. Just, plain, bad.

Some people have short memories, the last time Harrison played regularly on defense him not Shazier was busy single handedly taking this defense to another level. Do you think Bill will find ways to use him????? should we be concerned about him going against Villanueva???? Should we be concerned that they know us way better now???? This was an extremely bad move at the worst time possible. Once again since when did Harrison start playing poorly, the truth will soon be revealed. BTW Toussaint is still on the team????
