SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Have You Had Enough Now?” Edition

It’s Wednesday Steelers’ Fans which means we are a day closer to Sunday.

I need to move on. The hatred.. The ignorance… The negativity… You name it, it has been all over Steeler Nation for the last several days and I’ve had enough. It’s time to look forward to the Steelers taking the field in Baltimore. It’s time to get back to talking about football. I know we’ve lost some readers this week but I also know we’ve gained some too. What should have been an opportunity to learn and understand the views of others became a week filled with ugliness. These so-called “Steelers’ Fans” who have recorded themselves burning their jerseys and Terrible Towels have every right to do so. Just as the players who choose to kneel during the National Anthem do. But I’ve had enough of that and I think most of you have too.  It’s time to get back to Steelers’ football.

Mike Tomlin commented on both T.J. Watt and Sean Davis during his presser yesterday but did not mention the status of Ramon Foster. He left the game in the first half with what appeared to be a wrist injury but his absence from Tomlin’s lips was curious. Stephon Tuitt sounds like he should be a ‘go’ for this week which is good news for a defense that needs to stop the run.

Tweet of the Day… We know how you feel Vince.

Going back over the game film there is no doubt one of the major issues facing the Steelers’ D is finding more consistency against those stretch plays.  The reason they can be difficult to defend is that they force every member of the defense to do his job properly. On Sunday, there were instances of Ryan Shazier over-running the play… Anthony Chickillo or Bud Dupree giving up too much on the edge… Or Artie Burns and Joe Haden being absolutely helpless on the corners. The second part of that equation is guys on the backside doing their jobs as well. They must have discipline and look for the running back to cut back. If they over-pursue, things could get ugly.

Glad to report that Lawrence Timmons was reinstated by the Dolphins and he’s scheduled to play on Sunday.

Ben Roethlisberger said in his radio show yesterday that he’s perhaps looking for Antonio Brown too often. Many then ripped him for that. Let me get this straight. You want honesty and candid takes from your players and when you get one you go off on him? I saw a lot of that on social media yesterday. I agree that Ben often tries to force throws but it isn’t just to AB. He forced several to Martavis Bryant on Sunday as well. As he would say later, “he has to take what is given.”

I’m of the mind that Cris Collinsworth, who is an owner of Pro Football Focus, should not be referring to it when doing telecasts on NBC. It’s a clear conflict of interest and besides, PFF is a joke.

Have a great hump day Steeler Nation!
