SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Giving Thanks” Edition

by Steeldad

Happy Thanksgiving Steelers’ Fans!

I’ll be sure to touch on all the usual things I do in ‘Quick Hitters’ but allow me to take this opportunity to give some thanks. First, thanks to my crew here at SCB. This place does not work without them. Thanks to our sponsors 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh, Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36 and Nail the Number. Thanks to so many great Steelers’ friends I’ve made over the years as well. Always enjoy our conversations. And of course thanks to my family who have supported this endeavor for a long time!!

In case you missed the injury report from Wednesday courtesy steelers.com. Joe Haden (fibula), JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring) and Vance McDonald (ankle) all did not participate. Both Mike Mitchell and James Harrison were full participants. For the Packers, Clay Matthews and Kenny Clark, both key defenders, did not practice.

Tweet of the Day… From great friend ‘Mr. Wonderful.’

We recorded the Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh on Tuesday night. Please excuse the abrupt ending as Ben and Ian talked WAY too much!!

Do I expect the Steelers to win Sunday? Yes. Do I expect the Steelers to win BIG on Sunday? Yes. Am I concerned about the Packers’ chances of winning? Yes, because they still have talented wide receivers and if the Steelers turn the ball over at all it keeps them in the game. Bottom line? The Steelers cannot afford to look past this game with the Bengals, Ravens and Patriots coming up.

Did you know the Browns are technically are still alive for a playoff berth? Crazy I know.

The Oakland Raiders have to be one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL and it could get worse. They fired Defensive Coordinator Ken Norton, Jr and that wasn’t a popular move. Star defenders Bruce Irvin and Kahlil Mack both missed practice yesterday. To say Head Coach Jack Del Rio is in some trouble is an understatement.

This is the first of the three major fall/winter holidays the Steelers have not played on since 2015. Last year of course, they played on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. While they will play on Christmas Day in Houston this season, enjoy your turkey while watching other teams battle knowing our Steelers are home after practice with their families.

Have a fantastic Thanksgiving Steeler Nation!
