SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Gettin’ Healthy” Edition

by Steeldad

Good day Steelers’ Fans! It’s Wednesday and that means… well it doesn’t mean much so let’s go!

Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin addressed the Pittsburgh media yesterday and revealed quite a bit of good news related to the overall health of the team. Cam Heyward, Marcus Gilbert and Ben Roethlisberger are “on track” to play Sunday but practice will dictate the final decision. Basically, only Cody Wallace is ruled out for Sunday right now.

Check out my very unique article on the Steelers’ Success during Presidential Election years.

As for Ladarius Green, Tomlin isn’t ruling him out for Sunday. Certainly Tomlin would benefit from keeping Green’s status quiet as long as possible but I think if Green goes with the team to Baltimore then look for Green to be activated.

Here is this week’s ‘Nail the Number!’

One of the major problems the Steelers have had defensively has been on the edges. As much as they’ve been gashed the last two games between the tackles, they can’t find any type of stability on the outside. Part of this is the personnel and part of it is “the lack of personnel due to injury.” The absence of Bud Dupree has hindered much of what the Steelers wanted to do in terms of having a more ‘hybrid’ looking defense. On the back end, the injury to Senquez Golson has altered the way the Steelers wanted to do things too.

Tweet of the Day… Little Mike Tomlin!

There were a couple of shake-ups on the depth chart during the bye week and the most notable was on offense. Darrius Heyward-Bey has moved past both Markus Wheaton and Eli Rogers and is listed as the current #2 wide receiver. Mike Tomlin said during his presser that Rogers not playing against New England had nothing to do with off-field issues. I guess it depends on how you define “off-field issues.” Rogers has been late to meetings and a pregame walk-thru.

Right now, only the great Jim Brown has averaged more total yards from scrimmage per game than Le’Veon Bell has. And to think where he’d be without injuries and poor choices….

Have a wonderful Wednesday Steeler Nation!
