Yesterday at Mike Tomlin’s Weekly Press Conference the Steelers’ top dog said the possibility exists that Justin Gilbert could be used Sunday to help cover Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce. Why do I find this interesting? Two reasons. First, Gilbert has played 11 total snaps on defense this season. That’s right, ELEVEN. Secondly, the Steelers did a pretty decent job on Kelce in the earlier matchup. Kelce was targeted eight time and finished with five receptions for 23 yards and a score. I find this comment by Tomlin to be a bit strange.
Now, if Tomlin is planning to use Gilbert as a kick returner, then I’m totally on board. The current stable of return men isn’t getting it done. Not even close frankly.
We still don’t know everything about the incident that has resulted in Joey Porter being placed on leave but I’ll say this; the officer involved does not exactly strike me known as “Officer Friendly.” More and more continues to come out about this guy and it isn’t good. That said, it doesn’t mean Porter is without some guilt here.
Tomlin revealed that Ladarius Green remains in concussion protocol and he also added Fitzgerald Toussaint to the protocol list.
Ben Roethlisberger appeared as usual on his radio show yesterday and delivered a wonderful response to a question about the recent article in Sports Illustrated which called him the most polarizing player in the NFL. “If going home and changing diapers is polarizing then I’m guilty,” said Big Ben. Simple and to the point.

Chiefs’ return man Tyreek Hill isn’t just a stud on special teams. He also caught five passes for 24 yards and a score in the October win over Kansas City.
Rookie Tyler Matakevich was the team’s top special teams’ tackler during the regular season. ‘Dirty Red’ collected 12 tackles while Vince Williams tallied nine.
Speaking of tackles, Lawrence Timmons leads all playoff participants in total tackles with 16.
Praise is often given to Roosevelt Nix and David Johnson for “leading the way” for Le’Veon Bell and rightfully so. But… do you realize how little both guys actually “lead the way?” Bell spends a lot more time in one back sets then you might think. Nix saw just 15 snaps on offense Sunday while Johnson was on the field for 23% of all offensive snaps in 2016. What’s the point? Bell does a lot more running with no lead blocker in front of him then many are aware. If you want to talk about counters and so on that’s a different story.

Kicking off deep thru the back of the endzone would be a great idea. And once again keep J. Jones off the field this is and should be a no-brainer. Now if we tempt fate and try to get cute in these areas only bad things will happen. GO STEELERS!!!
