SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Communication Kids” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

If you haven’t figured this out already, the word “communication” is going to be used a lot by Mike Tomlin and probably Keith Butler as well. Communication on the football field is crucial to a team’s success both offensively and defensively. Over the last couple of seasons the Steelers’ secondary has struggled with this. The main culprit has been Mike Mitchell who now finds himself still looking for employment. To be fair to Mitchell though, the communication problems were far from being solely on him. Enter Tom Bradley whose job will be to “shore up the lines of communication” and that process seems to be well underway. Tomlin has already commented on how well rookies Marcus Allen and Terrell Edmunds were communicating during their rookie mini-camp last weekend. While this is a very positive fist step for these kids we must also remember the process is only just beginning. But make no mistake about it, this is a word that you’re going to hear a lot more of in 2018.

The Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh will record tonight.

Tweet of the Day… Good stuff from a good guy.

With Randy Fichtner currently in the dual role of offensive coordinator and QB Coach, we’ve speculated for some time that he’ll eventually relinquish the latter part. Our best guess is that Danny Rooney will likely get the nod to coach QBs. He’s the son of ARII and a former college quarterback at Dartmouth. He’s also interned for two  years at the NFL Offices and has been involved with the Steelers’ coaching staff recently as well. While I’m not suggesting this is a guarantee, we believe it will happen.

From Uncle Ed’s chat over at post-gazette.com…

RJT: How do you keep from going insane having to listen to yinzers?
Ed Bouchette: It can be fun, in a strange sort of way.

There are so many ways to go with both that question and the answer…..

Steelers’ OTAs are coming… May 22nd-May 24th… May 29th-May 31st… June 4th-June 7th and then the mandatory mini-camp is held June 12th-14th. These sessions will be the first time the rookies get on the field with the veterans.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
