SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Putting the Alien to Bed” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

With the trade deadline now as a far away as the Civil War, OK not really but you get my point, the discussion about Martavis Bryant being traded is a moot point. The ‘Alien’ as he’s known is not going anywhere despite several teams making inquiries. What this means going forward is pretty simple. Bryant will be part of every gameplan here on out and any thought of making him inactive again would be asinine. Unless of course he returns to social media… His absence on Sunday night was glaring. Defenses must account for him as a deep threat which opens things up underneath. The Lions were able to neglect that for much of the game with no deep threat on the field. The bottom line in all of this is that we are putting it to bed. I hope.

If you’re a fan of the WPIAL please make sure you check out our latest Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. Ian has done tremendous work on high school football this season in Western PA and his predictions for the postseason outstanding. He nailed 85% of those.

I don’t recall who wrote it but it doesn’t matter. Someone suggested that if Ben Roethlisberger retires after the season that the Steelers would go after Kirk Cousins. That’s not how the Steelers operate people.

Tweet of the Day… This is undeniable.

Over the next three weeks the Steelers will have Cam Sutton back. At the end of that period they’ll need to decide what to do with him. They can either add him to the active roster or he goes on Injured Reserve for the rest of the season. The secondary has been good despite getting torched for all those yards by Matthew Stafford the other night. So good in fact that William Gay has not seen much time and neither has Coty Sensabaugh. Keith Butler and Mike Tomlin have to be convinced that Sutton can contribute before they activate him because someone will have to be cut from the 53-man roster. Sutton has smarts and ability but will the Steelers want to disrupt the flow the secondary currently has? There are some rumors he’s getting time at safety but I don’t see him there because his tackling is not all that impressive but that hasn’t stopped them from experimenting before. As they say, stay tuned.

The 3 Finalists of our “Nevahbeen” Contest have until Tuesday morning to get us their videos!!! Steeler Nation will be voting so they better be good!!

Le’Veon Bell has closed the gap significantly with Kareem Hunt. He trails him in rushing yards but just 63… Antonio Brown has a huge lead in receiving yards on the Vikings’ Adam Thielen. He leads 835 to 627… For all his struggles, Ben Roethlisberger is fourth in the NFL in passing yards with 2,062.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
