SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for October 2nd, 2014

by Steeldad

The Steelers will practice today from 1pm-3pm Eastern Time.

-The injury report from yesterday is as follows; Heath Miller, Brett Keisel, Mike Mitchell and Troy Polamalu were all off for non-injury related reasons. Markus Wheaton was limited with a groin issue. Martavis Bryant and James Harrison missed practice due to illnesses while Ramon Foster was a full participant. Marcus Gilbert was limited with an ankle issue.

-In an effort to crack down on his undisciplined team, Mike Tomlin had officials at practice yesterday.

-Get your pink on. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and as usual the NFL will participate but let’s be honest. The fact that the league donates so few dollars from sales of pink merchandise and the recent domestic violence issues, I expect this year to be very mild compared to recent years.

-I thought this was a very interesting interview with Ben Roethlisberger during his weekly appearance on 93.7. He makes it pretty clear about some key issues with the Steelers.

-Lawrence Timmons has played 57 straight games for the Steelers. That is the longest current streak.

-Another outstanding stat from  Scott Kacsmar (@FO_ScottKacsmar) of Football Outsiders.

Roethlisberger when leading in last 4:00 of 4Q (career): 35/40 for 475 yards, 7 TD, 0 INT.

-Here’s your all-time leaders for game performance in the Steelers-Jags series: Passing Kordell Stewart 317 yards/Mark Brunell 308 yards; Rushing Rashard Mendenhall 146 yards/Fred Taylor 234 yards; Receiving Yancey Thigpen 196 yards/Jimmy Smith 164

-Certainly looks like my prediction of Lance Moore being the Most Important Steeler this year is going well… Ugh.

-Jason Worilds next sack will be the 20th of his career.
