SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “I Need More Bell” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Morning Steelers’ Fans! Ding! Ding! Here We Go!

Several items on Steelers’ Running Back Le’Veon Bell today.

First up, my friends at ProCamps announced yesterday that Bell would be hosting his first youth football camp. Click on the link for more details.

Secondly, Bell’s name has come up a lot with Team President Art Rooney II doing his media rounds. ARII has been upfront about the fact that the team would like to sign Bell to a long-term deal. Bell of course “rapped” earlier this season about ‘$15 mill a year.’ If he truly wants that much he isn’t going to get it. I believe, with the team’s salary cap space, he will be tagged while the two sides work out a deal.

Let me say this however; how much do you as a fan trust Bell? Do you think he can remain healthy and on the field? Do you think he can stay out of off-field trouble? They are valid questions.

Thirdly, is that a word??? Anyway, several outlets are reporting that Bell may need surgery on his injured groin. That’s the injury that kept him out of most of the AFC Championship Game. I’m not going to speculate one way or another but my concern is if they wait too long, then he has surgery… Will he be ready for training camp?

Tweet of the Day… Help Bell Out. If he wins, $50,000 goes to the USO.

Interesting debate some of my crew were having yesterday about Markus Wheaton. Do you bring him back on a one-year “prove it” type deal or do you wash your hands completely? There are arguments to be had for both sides. With questions about Sammie Coates, Martavis Bryant and even Cobi Hamilton, maybe it’s a good idea. On the other hand, Wheaton spends a lot of time on the injury report. Perhaps it’s time to part ways. I say let him walk.

Pittsburgh native and Colts’ punter Pat McAfee announced his retirement last night via Twitter. What a classy letter this is.

In case you missed it, the groundhog saw his shadow. Six more weeks of winter. Of course his accuracy rate is around 60%…

Have a great day Steeler Nation!

First Pat McAfee is a class act, he is great on and off the field. Second and always if we want to win a Super Bowl change will be necessary. Again and again over again, we need to get everything we can out of our roster. We really need someone to come in and embrace what we have on our roster and make the most of it. Not someone who wants to keeps throwing passes around the line of scrimmage. Some feel our offense is formidable, i for one disagree and feel that it has under-performed. We have the best WR the best RB and one of the best QB’s and a very good o-line. Coaching is the problem plain and simple. Knowing the Steeler front office, get ready for the pound a square into a circle mode.
