SCB Steelers Quick Hitters Memorial Day 2015 Edition

by Steeldad

Today of course is Memorial Day which to many means a day off and a day to fire up the grill. The real reason we celebrate this day is to honor our men and women who have paid the ultimate scarifice is service to America. Please do more than just have a hot dog today to honor them.

The picture of course is of Steelers’ great Rocky Bleier during his service in the Vietnam War.

Mark Kaboly of the Tribune-Review wrote this past weekend that the Steelers are interested in playing overseas again. While I’m not crazy about the Steelers ever playing outside the country, I’m OK with it if it’s in the preseason or an away game. The thought of losing a home game sickens me.

Did you happen to catch the “Free Tom Brady” rally yesterday in Foxboro? While I respect standing by my quarterback a great deal, this whole thing was just silly.

In case you missed it last week, the Steelers signed former Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner. I’ve seen some comparisons to Kordell Stewart because while Gardner played predominantly at QB, he also saw some time at receiver in Ann Arbor. Having seen almost all of his college games I can tell you he isn’t “Slash.” Gardner is a good athlete but I don’t see the the explosion and quickness that Stewart had.

I’ll be back with a much more thorough QH tomorrow. Enjoy the day and please say “thank you” to a person who serves or has served our country today.
