SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Making Sport” Edition

Happy Thursday Steelers’ Fans!

Sometimes when things aren’t going well all you can do is laugh. Or at the very least, you find humor somewhere in the situation. With all of the turmoil surrounding Antonio Brown’s sideline tantrum, one guy in particular decided to make sport of the whole darn thing. Linebacker Vince Williams, who is easily the best twitter follow among the current Steelers’ roster, took the issue to social media.

Tweet of the Day… VWill ‘quenching’ the mood.

As for Brown, he tweeted an apology of sorts yesterday. I’m told things carried over to Monday in the Offense’s group meeting. I will assume however that the apology means things have been discussed and hopefully this is the last we’ll hear of this issue.

There are any number of books and online articles about the New England Patriots and their history of cheating, errrr, pushing the limits of what is legal, but this new one is quite interesting and comes from the guys at footballoutsiders.com. Bottom line? More visiting teams suffer injuries in New England than any other stadium.

If you’re a fan of the WPIAL check out our podcast from last night. Ian broke it all down!

Latest on the injury front… Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related), Sean Davis (ankle), Ramon Foster (hand) and Stephon Tuitt (biceps) did not practice. Bud Dupree, Jesse James and Ryan Shazier were limited.

I’m going to try and do my best to be done mentioning this but what can I say? I enjoy beating a dead horse… I’ve seen a lot of comments about Brown’s fit being a ‘non-issue.’ Ya, I agree for the most part that it is. The problem is that it illustrates a bigger issue the Steelers have which is airing their dirty laundry publicly. I will always believe Mike Tomlin to be a good football coach but great ones order their players to keep this crap in-house. Ben Roethlisberger may be a captain but he has to know better than to bring these things out into the open. For his part, Tomlin should have just given the classic ‘no comment’ when asked at his presser. I do recognize that sometimes Tomlin and to a degree Roethlisberger use the media as an avenue to “speak to” players. I’m not a fan of it personally but I get it.
