SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for May 21st, 2015

by Steeldad

There are 111 days remaining until the Steelers play in New England on September 10th.

When I started writing about the Steelers almost a decade ago, one thing I wanted to try doing was separating a player’s on-field play versus who they were off of it. Most of the time I succeed but I’d be lying if I were perfect. One guy I’ve been hard on is Mike Adams who has yet to live up to his ability on the field. That said, I applaud the attention he is drawing to Autism Awareness with his Twitter avatar. Great story about why from steelers.com.

The Steelers Offensive Line was having some fun in the weight room.

I thought ESPN’s Adam Schefter brought up a great point that took my original thoughts the other day a step further. I wondered how the weather and field conditions could impact a coach’s decision to to kick the longer PAT or go for two. Schefter pondered the impact of a holding penalty which would take a 33-yard PAT to a 43-yard extra point. Imagine that decision in early December in Heinz Field.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said yesterday at the League Meetings that the recent decision by Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft to not appeal his team’s penalties would not impact anything about Tom Brady’s suspension.

“I look forward to hearing directly from Tom if there is new information or there is information that can be helpful to us in getting this right. I want to hear directly from Tom on that,” he said.

My only thought about this is that I’m not holding my breath and you shouldn’t either.

Here are some great photos of the Steelers as they continue with phase two of the offseason program.
