SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for June 11th, 2015

by Steeldad

There are 91 days remaining until the Steelers open the 2015 NFL Season at New England.

Thank you to everyone for your patience the last few days. This has to be the longest stretch I’ve gone without writing about our Steelers in the history of SCB. We don’t take ourselves so seriously though that we put this ahead of family and that’s what came first for me. My 15-year old daughter had spinal fusion surgery for 15 hours on Friday. Easily the longest day of our lives. I’m happy to report she is at home and is doing well. Already up and walking the stairs despite the new hardware in her back. Thanks to everyone for the support via social media as well.

Back to the Steelers…

Word from OTAs is that Martavis Bryant is taking his game to another level. Most of this is reflective of him from a physical standpoint but either way it’s positive and raises the stakes on the question of just who starts out as the number two receiver; Bryant or Markus Wheaton?

Courtesy of steelers.com, here’s a great interview with linebacker and all-around good guy Arthur Moats.

The Steelers have announced their schedule for the 2015 Training Camp in Latrobe. You can find the link to the schedule right here. Players will report on Saturday, July 25th and the first practice is the following day.

Ralph Paulk of the Tribune-Review reminds that we could see four number one draft picks manning the linebacking spots this season. Toss in the fact you have former first rounder Cam Heyward on the D-line and you have the makings of a very good defense. On paper at least right?

Going back to the battle for the number two receiving spot for a second… If Bryant wins that, is it guaranteed that Wheaton becomes the number 3? The Steelers didn’t draft Sammie Coates to hand out Gatorade. This is going to be an interesting position battle.

Tweet of the Day comes from Mr. Antonio Brown who had some pretty decent seats for Game Three of the NBA Finals.

Neal Coolong of USA Today reports on the high praise Antonio Brown has for rookie Senquez Golson. That’s coming from a guy who has seen everything in the NFL so stay humble Mr. Golson.

Have a great Thursday! Go Steelers!
