SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 3/30/16

by Steeldad

Happy Hump Day Steelers’ Fans!

Yesterday was supposed to be the final time I mentioned Brandon Boykin who is now a Carolina Panther but then Steelers’ beat writer and Steelers’ Nation Radio host Dale Lolley decided to take a shot at those of us who thought Boykin deserved better. He and I went back and forth on Twitter a bit and then I was made aware that so bothered was Lolley that he wrote an article about the fans’ overreaction to Boykin in the Observer-Reporter. First of all, I’m confident no one here at SCB ever compared Boykin to Mel Blount or Rod Woodson. For Lolley to go there was borderline childish. Perhaps the more important take from his writing of the article is that just maybe he was pushing a narrative on behalf of the team. It would not be the first time a Steelers’ reporter has done that.

For the record, I like Dale. He does a good job, but there was no need for the article. Fans are allowed to have educated opinions.

Keep an eye on Defensive Lineman Jack Crawford (sounds like a private eye) who visited the Steelers this week. He played less than half of the defensive snaps for Dallas last season and still had four sacks and 14 tackles. He could be the type of defensive lineman they want who could play multiple positions on the front line.

Tweet of the Day… Check out Kevin’s work!

Offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz who visited the Steelers last week is signing with the Detroit Lions.

Think the Steelers are going with a corner in round one? I’m not convinced.

I’m very curious as to what the Steelers will do will their back-up QB situation. Do they just ride with Landry Jones one more year? Mike Tomlin wasn’t exactly “committed” to that in his closing remarks at the end of the year. Is Bruce Gradkowski still an option? Even if they bring in a rookie that’s a lot to ask of him to be backup.

Have a great middle of the week Steeler Nation!

As for the quarterback situation, if Gradkowski is healthy, he is Bens backup. Let there be a competition if need be. As for a CB at number 1, I am beginning to agree with you. I like the kid from Baylor as a nose tackle. And some of the cornerbacks that this website has presented look great. In particular the kid from that small school in Louisiana. He has great hands and can run. Great job guys. I read you everyday.
