SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 12/23/15

by Steeldad

The Steelers return to practice today following their day off. They will take to the practice field from 115-315pm.

Congrats again to Steelers Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and David DeCastro on their Pro Bowl invitations. Very well deserved.

In case you missed it, Matt and I rattled off the Steelers’ Fan Podcast last night. Give it a listen!

While I believe this idea of the Steelers having a letdown is preposterous, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about playing the Ravens. John Harbaugh has clearly had Mike Tomlin’s number over the last ten games and they still have some talented defensive players. That said, anything less than a victory would be disturbing.

Tweet of the Day… Nice gesture from the Steelers’ Marcus Gilbert.

Two interesting stats to keep an eye with two games remaining… DeAngelo Williams is 201 yards shy of 1,000 rushing yards on the season. While it won’t be easy, I can see it happening with a couple of very solid games as the Steelers look to establish the ground game. The other is Martavis Bryant’s 759 receiving yards. While perhaps less likely, we’ve seen how quickly Bryant can rack up yards so 1,000 isn’t out of the question.

Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin revealed little in his presser yesterday but not surprisingly he said the “usual rotation will continue” when he was asked about Brandon Boykin. Look, the evidence is overwhelming that Boykin’s presence on the field is an upgrade but I think Tomlin just isn’t willing to go to the man/press coverage the way he did Sunday. Every week is different in the NFL so I expect to see Antwon Blake in the base defense and short yardage situations.

Happy Festivus Steelers’ Nation!
