SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 1/12/16

by Steeldad

Even with the playoffs underway, the Steelers will still take their customary day off today.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin will give his weekly press conference at Noon ET on steelers.com.

As difficult as it is, the Steelers need to move on now from the Cincinnati game. Going to Denver will not be easy and the quicker the team starts to focus the Broncos the better.

As for me, I can continue to dwell on the Bengals’ game a bit longer… It was announced last night that Bengals’ linebacker Vontaze Burfict will be suspended the first three games of next season. The union will appeal on his behalf and he could see that reduced but what does the union argue? Burfict was suspended for purposefully trying to injure fellow dues paying union members. Not sure how that’s going to fly.

Joey Porter really had no business being on the field and I’m sure he’ll get fined for it ($20,000 I believe) but as players, you can’t lose your cool the way the Bengals and PacMan Jones did. He went nuts because his manhood was challenged and he put himself before his team. It’s really that simple.

Lastly on the Bengals, I’m surprised to hear Marvin Lewis’ job isn’t in jeopardy. He’s yet to win a playoff game in seven tries now and he clearly has no control over his players. Reports surfaced today that many Bengals’ players think Lewis has lost the locker room for tolerating the behavior of these players.

Tweet of the Day #1… Speaks for itself.

Tweet of the Day #2… Not Steelers’ related but I love items like this.

Everything I’ve heard in the last 24 hours is that Ben Roethlisberger will play on Sunday in Denver. As if you didn’t know that…

ESPN reported last night that Antonio Brown’s status for Sunday was “not looking good.” I’ll be shocked, shocked I tell ya, if he doesn’t play.

I tweeted last week that I had a feeling Fitz Toussaint and Jordan Todman would be pretty good and my reasoning was simple. First, no one expected anything of them and secondly, they’ve been in the system long enough to know the offense. That’s a far cry from where Ben Tate was when he was signed right before the playoff game last season.

Have a great day Steelers’ Nation!
