SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 10/6/15

by Steeldad

It’s Tuesday so that means a mandatory day off for the players.

Ryan Shazier practiced yesterday for the first time since injuring his shoulder near the end of the win over San Francisco. It’s unclear as to whether or not he plays Monday night but the arrow is pointing up. My bigger concern is his long-term health. Reportedly, he had some nerve damage in the shoulder and that could lead to issues down the road.

Tweet of the Day from a guy I owe an apology to…

I really didn’t like the Steelers bringing back Allen this past offseason. I, like many Steelers’ fans was ready for change in the secondary but Allen has been a very steady player through the first four games. He’s been very good against the run and pass.

While I found the calls for Jeff Reed to return as kicker to be quite entertaining I can’t believe some of you were actually serious about it. Not only has he not kicked in awhile but he’s been a bit of an embarrassment off the field too. Let’s give Chris Boswell a chance before we start another call for Reed shall we?

Mike Tomlin presser today at noon at Steelers.com.

The Steelers are 22-9 all-time against the Chargers and are 7-6 in SoCal. Last time they won there was 2005 by the score of 24-22 on a Jeff Reed field goal with six seconds remaining.

I’m very curious to see how Keith Butler uses the defensive linemen on Monday night. Both Stephon Tuitt and Cam Heyward wore down late because of a serious lack of depth. Someone has to step up there or teams will continue to run on them.

If you asked me right now whether I think Markus Wheaton gets a new deal with the Steelers when his rookie deal expires I would tell you “nope.”

Have a great day Steelers Nation!
