SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 10/20/15

by Steeldad

Today is Tuesday so that means a day off for the SteelersĀ in Pittsburgh.

Keep a close eye on what the Steelers do this week with Tyler Murphy. The wide receiver/quarterback is currently on the practice squad but if it is decided that Ben Roethlisberger can’t go on Sunday, look for Murphy to be on the roster. It’s doubtful Michael Vick will be available as he’s dealing with a hamstring issue. That means Landry Jones would start and Murphy would be the backup.

Without question the best throw Landry Jones made on Sunday was actually one of his shortest. On a third and three, the Cardinals were showing a heavy blitz and that’s exactly what they did. Jones made the proper read to his ‘hot route’ Heath Miller who made the catch and picked up the necessary yards for the first down. That shows me the kid was prepared.

Please support us as we team with Cam Heyward’s Fan Club to support his ‘Iron Head’ movement. Look for tweets from us #StandWithCam and check out what we are up to right here.

Steelers’ wide receiver Antonio Brown is taking a lot of heat for his reaction towards Landry Jones on the field Sunday and some of it is justified. I’m always a ‘team’ guy first and those types of behaviors don’t sit well with me. That said, Brown is a typical wide receiver. He was going up against one of the best corners in the NFL in Patrick Peterson and he obviously wanted to do well. I get it.

Tweet of the Day… Raise your hand if you saw this coming.

Football is a cruel game. Look no further than the Steelers’ Kelvin Beachum who is out for the year with a torn ACL. It’s an injury that will likely cost him a lot of money in the offseason when he looks for a new deal.

I like Bruce Arians a lot but he whines more than the Harbaugh’s do.

Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to Ryan Shazier returning to the field. Same with Cortez Allen but I’m hearing he will go this Sunday.

Brandon Boykin was a panic move by the Steelers. Had Ross Cockrell come available before that trade the front office would have never made it. It really is that simple. That said, why he isn’t on the field defensively more is beyond me.

Got a really cool new partnership coming up. Will let you know soon.

Have a great Tuesday Steelers’ Nation!
