SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: “Fine This!” Edition

Good Thursday to You Steelers’ Fans!

The National Football League fined Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin $25,000 yesterday for criticizing the officials following Sunday’s win over Atlanta. I get why the NFL does this; it’s about institutional control. You can’t have coaches constantly undermining officials who already have a thankless job. But my question here is this, did Mike Tomlin say anything that was wrong? No he didn’t. In fact, he brought up an excellent point. There are players and coaches who will lose jobs because of some of these officiating blunders and he’s absolutely right. And quite frankly I don’t blame the officials as much as I blame the people in New York who are forcing them to call some of this crap. The referees aren’t dumb, they know these ‘roughing the passer’ calls are ridiculous but they have no choice and that leads to the mess we have now. I sincerely hope that when Tomlin sends the check it comes with a photo copy of his middle finger.

Here’s the latest on the injury front (Weds. Practice) from steelers.com.

Tweet of the Day… AB responds to recent civil lawsuits brought against him.

I’m going to beat a dead horse here so my apologies… I’m not a fan of Ben Roethlisberger’s “veteran’s days off” on each Wednesday. I realize it’s just one day early in the week but he’s never been the kind of player who could just show up and throw darts. He needs the work with his receivers.

We do all understand that the NFL will also investigate these issues going on with Brown right? These are things he can be suspended for depending upon what is found. The drama just never ends with this guy.

Jordan Berry has been better the last few weeks punting the football, especially in terms of burying teams inside the 10 or 20 yard line. I still need to see him get off some big kicks when his back is to his own goal line. The ability to flip the field is often just as important as dropping kicks inside the 20.

The Steelers currently lead the NFL in total sacks. Stephon Tuitt doesn’t have any of them. Time to step up man.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!

If you guys think Bell is the best back in the NFL. You haven’t seen Blarkley from the Giants. Bell isn’t even close,The Steelers would be crazy to give him what he’s asking. Shit just cut him, he has the potential to ruin this entire season. Since when did the Steelers ever let players dictate to them.
