SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Don’t Look Past” Edition

TGIF Steelers’ Fans!

The closer we get to Sunday night the more concerned I get about the Steelers’ approach to this game. Other than the fact it’s a road game, everything seems to line up for a big win by the ‘Black and Gold.’ The Lions have a suspect offensive line, Matt Stafford has been banged up, Golden Tate is out and they give up almost 25 points per game. With that week off looming for the Steelers and coming off of two big wins, I’m worried that we as a team and fans are looking past Detroit. Hopefully my concerns are proven to be completely unfounded by midnight of Sunday evening. Until then however, I’m more worried than normal. [Update]: Tate is now expecting to play.

The attention paid to JuJu Smith-Schuster has been fun, humorous and exciting. Now imagine what that attention must be like for HIM! As the youngest player in the League I hope he continues to keep his head down and focus on what’s important because it’s very easy to get caught up in the moment. I’ll tell you that I have full faith in this kid. He seems to have all of his ducks in a row and therefore this isn’t something I’m too concerned about. That said, we’ve seen such stories across the NFL before. Keep doing what you’re doing JuJu!

Tweet of the Day… Speaking of JuJu, check out these cleats.

Huge congratulations to David DeCastro and his wife who welcomed their first child this week! The DeCastro’s have a brand new daughter!

The Lions situation at tackle is dire. They may be starting former Steeler Brian Mihalik on Sunday. The fact that Marcus Gilbert is still not practicing doesn’t bode well either. He felt like he’d be ready to go this week. Hopefully he still is.

If you’ve never been to a Steelers’ game in Pittsburgh you have a chance to cross that off your bucket list. Check out our “Nevahbeen” contest right here. Make sure you follow the directions to enter!

I fully expect Le’Veon Bell to get a lot of touches Sunday night. I also expect him to be in top form too as he returns to Michigan where he has a huge following from his days at Michigan State.

Have a great weekend Steeler Nation!
