SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: “The Boot is No More” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Tuesday Steelers’ Fans!

Go ahead, admit it. When you heard, then saw Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in a walking boot after Sunday’s game, you felt like crap. Why wouldn’t you? It would be just our luck wouldn’t it? Injuries have plagued this team in the postseason in recent years and why would that stop now? Never fear! Roethlisberger announced today the boot is gone! An MRI revealed he aggravated an old injury but things are good to good to go for Sunday in Kansas City.

Mike Tomlin press conference today at Noon ET on steelers.com and ROOT SPORTS.

Like many, I often tweet before I think. While I believe Joey Porter has screwed up, I should let both sides plead their cases first. It sounds very much to me like one guy had a bit of an attitude while the other wasn’t having it. Either way, Porter shouldn’t be out with players (they were holding a private party) nor should he put himself in these situations. That said, sounds like Porter isn’t the only one to blame here.

I have to believe the Kansas City Chiefs are working very hard this week on two things in particular. First, how to get Travis Kelce more involved than he was in the first meeting. Secondly, the defense has to be focused on how to stop Le’Veon Bell. Duh right? Well, it’s also because they’ve been gashed by opposing rushing attacks most of the season. If they can’t fix these issues the Steelers will be in good shape.

Tweet of the Day… Not quite sure what to make of this.

You may not be surprised to know the NFL and Players’ Association are investigating the Dolphins’ handling of Matt Moore following Bud Dupree’s hit. I was stunned to see him back after one play and apparently the league was too. Concussion protocol has to be more stringent than that. I mean, he was on the field longer than he was getting checked out before re-entering.

The Chiefs, not surprisingly, remind me of Andy Reid’s Philadelphia teams. They have a lot of good pieces but until they win some big postseason games I don’t think they’ll ever garner much respect. Let’s hope that doesn’t start this weekend.

I couldn’t help but chuckle last night. Alabama and Clemson had all kinds of NFL talent on that field and yet the scrawny receiver for the Tigers steals the show.

SCB contributor Ben brought up a good point about Kevin Greene’s tweets advocating his availability for the OLB job should it open up. Has anyone confirmed this is actually Greene tweeting? Seems a little quick to bury Porter already especially a former Steeler.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
