SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Benching Bryant” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

A day after Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin said wide receiver Martavis Bryant would not be traded, the troubled star was demoted to the scout team. From most reports, the reason is due to his social media posts more than anything else. By all accounts, he has practiced hard and has been a good teammate but the two straight weekends of public whining have been enough. Throw in the fact he openly attacked a teammate and you have yourself a good old fashioned discipline issue.

The trade deadline is a week away and while I never say “never” I do not see the Steelers going back on their word and trading Bryant. If a team, like this week’s opponent the Lions who have been the most interested in his services, offers a deal so crazy you couldn’t pass it up then maybe it happens. But at this point, the Steelers hold all of the cards and Bryant and his agent need to remember that.

One thing it’s important to point out is that Martavis Bryant is an important player for this offense. We’ve all seen what he’s capable of doing and his mere presence is important to the success of the unit. From a fan’s perspective we need to keep this in mind; we can hate on him for immaturity and for just flat-out being an idiot but he has value to the team and that can’t be denied.

Tweet of the Day… Swaggin’ U was checking out some baseball last night!

I get the very eerie feeling that fans and maybe the team are sleeping on the Detroit Lions. You’d think we’d have learned a lesson with the loss to Jacksonville but I’m concerned. Two straight big wins and the bye week looming after this game… Detroit plays well at home and has some talent. Taking this game for granted would be a horrible mistake.

Our new contest with @nailthenumber17 comes out today! If you’ve never been to a Steelers’ game in Pittsburgh this is your chance!!! It’s our “Nevahbeen” contest. Make sure you follow the instructions!!!

So if Bryant is being demoted because of social media use then why wasn’t Antonio Brown for his Facebook Live stunt last season? Um, well, one guy is a superstar and one guy isn’t. It’s the truth.

Our Ben Anderson has downloaded Le’Veon Bell’s latest track titled “Winsday.” He gives it a thumbs up!!

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
