SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Back to Work” Edition

by Steeldad

Good day Steelers’ fans! Like many of us, the Steelers are back to work after a little time off following their Thanksgiving Day win. I certainly hope their victory made your holiday that much better because I know it did mine!

I broke down why the Steelers have such little room for error over their final five games earlier today.

The Bengals did little to help our cause on Sunday losing to the Ravens in Baltimore 19-14. If you saw the end of the game then you saw something I’ve never seen before and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. Forced to punt from deep in their own territory and leading 19-12, the Ravens decided to “hold” every Bengals’ players following the snap. This allowed the punter to run back to the end zone and let the time tick off the clock. Only defensive penalties can keep a game alive so while the decision was a “typical Harbaugh move” it wasn’t illegal.

Prior to Thursday night, the Steelers had not been using play-action passing enough for my liking but they seemed to get back to it a bit. That’s a good sign because Ben Roethlisberger is very good at it. It certainly helps if you’re running the ball well and Le’Veon Bell has been doing that so I say, stick with it!

Looking ahead to the Giants, the two teams are remarkably similar on defense. The biggest difference though is that Pittsburgh is +4 in turnover margin while New York is -5.

Tweet of the Day… Like DWill, I’m a Walking Dead fan as well but I’m tiring of it lately. Not enough focus on main characters.

For all the talk of playing poorly on the road half of the Steelers’ wins in 2016 have come…. On the road.

Yes, I know one was Cleveland and one was Indy without Andrew Luck but still…

‘Nail the Number’ will be out on Wednesday. It’s up to $2,100 after some VERY close calls on Turkey Day!

It seems every year there’s one player on the roster that garners as much love as he does hate and this year that has to be Mike Mitchell. I am not a big fan of his but I’ll say this; he makes guys think before going over the middle and that’s what you want back there. It’s part of why he was my “Most Important Steeler” heading into this year.

Antonio Brown was hit with another 15-yarder Thursday night this time for his “group celebration” with Bell. I think we all agree that that the NFL has taken all the fun out of the game but I’m not sure why AB continues to push the envelope every single week.

Have a great Monday Steeler Nation!
