SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters for 9/21/16

by Steeldad

Good Wednesday Morning Steelers’ Fans! Get over the hump today!!

Let me get to the injury front right away. As of this writing, it looks like Markus Wheaton and Cody Wallace will both be available on Sunday. Roosevelt Nix has a chance to play but it’s a long shot I’m told.

Lot of people already starting to poo-poo the trade for Justin Gilbert who has played only on special teams at this point. I’m not overly crazy about Gilbert like many of you but I look at it this way. If someone goes down on the boundary, he’s not the worst guy in the world to have as a fill-in. Secondly, can you imagine how good this secondary could be if he starts getting time and plays well?

Week Three of ‘Nail the Number’ is here!!! This week you need to hit these two items. Number of points scored by the Eagles and number of carries by DeAngelo Williams. $1,200 up for grabs! Tweet @CraigScott31 and @SCBlitz

I wrote this article about Ramon Foster’s right to express himself and frankly, I didn’t care if it got one or a million hits. I’m tired of people using the first amendment ONLY when it fits their agenda.

Lot of concern over Ben Roethlisberger’s interceptions which total three in the first two games. A couple of things here… As long as his TD to INT ratio remains at roughly 3 to 1.5 that’s OK with me. The bigger issue though is that two of the interceptions were as much on the receiver as they were on him. Sometimes you have to go deeper than the stat page on Monday morning.

Tweet of the Day… AB the D-A-D.

Speaking of going deeper into the stats… SCB’s Ben Anderson mentioned during our daily briefings something that isn’t paid a lot of attention. The Steelers currently have given up the most passing yards in the league with the exception of Oakland. Remember that the Steelers spent about 22 minutes of the opening night in ‘prevent’ defense and then also were willing to give up yards to Cincinnati on Sunday as well. As long as they aren’t surrendering touchdowns that’s fine by me.

The last time the Steelers and Eagles met when both teams were unbeaten was 1992. They were both 2-0 and Bill Cowher was in his rookie season as the team’s head coach.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
