SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 8/28/16

Good Sunday Morning Steelers’ Fans! Here We Go!

Steelers’ defensive lineman Cam Heyward has the dreaded ‘high-ankle sprain’ but expects to be ready yo go for the season opener in Washington.

Marcus Gilbert has an elbow injury that initially was thought to be pretty bad. According to Mike Tomlin it is “not a serious injury.”

As good as the Steelers’ offense looked on Friday night one thing concerns me; Ben Roethlisberger in the shotgun so much. In recent years, he’s actually been better and safer when under center. That’s something to keep an eye on because after-all, it is still the preseason.

What a difference Big Ben made for Jesse James (or Rogers) if you’re the New Orleans play-by-play announcer. James looked like a different tight end with Roethlisberger in there showing some faith in the second year player.

Here’s my take on Colin Kaepernick not standing for the national anthem. First of all, he lives in a country where he has the right to do this. But what he needs to understand is that people that don’t like his decision also have the right to voice their opinion. As for his stance, that he can’t stand for the flag of a country that treats minorities the way it does, I have a question for him…. If you hate it so much Colin then you probably shouldn’t accept the paycheck this country affords you right?

Tweet of the Day… From Cam Heyward. This is pretty cool.

The depth at safety is a little concerning. With Sean Davis covering the slot, that leaves Mike Mitchell, Rob Golden and ???? Don’t be a bit surprised if the Steelers’ bring back Will Allen is what I’m getting at. I just don’t think Shamarko Thomas has done enough to claim a serious amount of playing time in the secondary.

Do not forget our ‘nail the number‘ contest which will kick off big time in week one when the Steelers play the Redskins.

Have a great week Steeler Nation!
