SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 6/3/16

Ahhhhhh Friday….

The Steelers’ pending kicking battle is a moot point in my mind. Shaun Suisham will earn a base salary of $2.4 million in 2016. Chris Boswell will earn a base salary of over $500,000. If these two are neck and neck throughout camp it becomes an easy decision for Mike Tomlin. You take the younger and more importantly, cheaper guy every time.

Here are links to two articles I fired off this week. One regarding individual stats over winning and the other was about absences at OTAs being a non-issue.

It was reported this week that Steelers’ defensive lineman Dan McCullers had some minor surgery on his shoulder and he will also get some contact lenses to help with some vision problems. It is thought both things could help McCullers make a significant jump in production this season.

The Trib’s Mark Kaboly offered this piece on Steelers’ linebacker Lawrence Timmons. As we’ve discussed a lot during the offseason I just can’t see Timmons going into the season with his current cap number. Has to be a move coming.

Steelers wide receiver Markus Wheaton and offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert both told ESPN this week that the Ravens remain the Steelers’ true rival, not the Bengals as many fans and media folks believe. We couldn’t agree more.

Tweet of the Day…. AB = Awesome

Since Senquez Golson revealed he had an MRI on something other than the shoulder that forced him to miss his rookie season everything has been quiet. Why you may ask? Because Tomlin hates players divulging anything to the media about injuries and I’m making an educated guess that he made a very swift comment to young Mr. Golson.

The Pens can take a commanding 3-0 lead with a win Saturday night in the Shark Tank. Last time the Pens won the Cup the Steelers went on to win their sixth Lombardi Trophy. I like facts like that!

Have a great weekend Steeler Nation!
