What a great Friday it is in Pittsburgh today! The Penguins are on to the Stanley Cup Finals after defeating the Lightning 2-1 last night. Check out our partners at Pittsburgh Sports Initiative for the latest on the Pens.

Chris posted his latest this morning on Jarvis Jones. Check it out right here.

In what will not shock anyone, Antonio Brown reportedly ran rookie cornerback Artie Burns ragged in OTAs earlier this week. Welcome to the NFL rook but understand this; you will become a far better corner than you could have imagined because you’re facing the best receiver in the world every day now.

Best Wishes to Ken Laird! Ken is leaving Trib-Live Radio for a production job in Boston where his wife works. Ken is the ultimate professional and an all-around great voice on the radio. He will be missed.

Congrats to Ben Roethlisberger and his wife Ashley on their birth of their new son yesterday. Welcome to the world Bodie! He and the family were already cheering on the Pens! (Photo courtesy bigben_7.com)

Speaking of Ben, I like the fact he’s dropped the 15 pounds due mostly to cardio but what I like most is that this isn’t as big of a weight loss prior to training camp as we’ve seen in previous years. I think this will give him a really good mixture of added mobility and enough size to handle the pounding he takes each year.

It appears, sadly, that I may have jumped the gun on ESPN’s Chris Berman. I saw a report last night that this would be his final year and tweeted my excitement over that fact. His agent is now claiming the report is false. Berman was once a great and unique broadcaster but his ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude has been a big turn-off for me.

I appreciate the honesty that Le’Veon Bell speaks with in regards to his recent injuries and the fact that he believes the Bengals have “intentionally” tried to hurt him. But I also wish he’d just focus less on the Bengals and more on the upcoming season in general.

Last season the Steelers’ offense believed it could score 30 points per game and fell short of that averaging about 26 instead. Big Ben said this week that the goal of 30 per game remains the goal and he and Todd Haley believe they can achieve it. As always, health is biggest question in this equation. If the key guys can stay healthy then yes, it’s possible but I would still take the ‘under’ on that wager though.

Tweet of the Day… You know Da Beard loves the Pens.

I hope all of Steeler Nation has a great Memorial Day Weekend and that you take time to remember those who have given their lives serving our country. In case you forgot, that’s why we celebrate this weekend. Your freedom to shove hot dogs down your throat is provided by those who have given the ultimate!
