SCB Steelers Quick Hitters for 3/17/16

by Steeldad

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Steeler Nation! Tis a fine day for the wearing o’ the green! Actually it’s the only day. The rest of the time you better be in black and gold!

Head Coach Mike Tomlin and Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley were in Waco, Texas yesterday for the Pro Day at Baylor University. The likely reason they were there was Andrew Billings, the stud defensive lineman for the Bears. Haley however had his eyes elsewhere. I’m told he likes Baylor WR Corey Coleman a lot. While I can’t see the Steelers grabbing a receiver in the first three rounds, one never knows right? Also on hand were Defensive Coordinator Keith Butler and some guy you may have heard of named Joe Greene.

Every Wednesday on Trib Live Radio Host Ken Laird interviews Dan Shonka of Ourlads Scouting. It’s great stuff as Dan is a great evaluator of talent.

Here’s my take on the Steelers’ sudden loss of leadership over the last few days.

While offensive tackle has become less likely early in the draft, don’t rule it out. At 25, just about anything can happen especially if there is a run on certain positions which there almost always is.

Tweet of the Day… From the Steelers’ Sean Spence through Teresa Varley. Worth your time.

I was really excited at the thought of a bunch formation with Antonio Brown, Ladarius Green and Martavis Bryant and Markus Wheaton or Sammie Coates on the back side. *Sigh

ICYMI Chris had this breakdown of Ohio State’s Braxton Miller.

Carlos argues that the Steelers are pretty much done in free agency.

With Sean Spence gone, the Steelers are suddenly a little thin at inside backer. As the defense continues to transition keep an eye on the type of player they want to replace him.

May your luck be good and your mug always be full on this St. Patty’s Day! Have a good and safe one Steeler Nation!
