Patriots Lose: America Wins. Super Bowl LII TweetCap

by Ian

The Patriots lost the Super Bowl. It was wonderful and glorious and the best possible ending to an NFL season that did not feature the Steelers winning the Super Bowl. The Patriots are now tied with the Broncos for the most losses in Super Bowl history (5). As always, Twitter was at peak excellence when New England was struggling.

The former punter from Plum high school with a big call early.

The Eagles scored and missed an extra point

It kind of did, but it didn’t.

It only happened once though. Brandon Cooks tried to hurdle a dude and it didn’t go well.

The Pats did make us all feel good with a botched snap and missed field goal.

The Pats tried a throwback pass to Brady and he dropped it.

LeGarrette Blount scored to stretch out the Eagles lead.

There was a commercial break that wasn’t as the screen just went blank. If you were rooting for the asteroid, you probably thought you hit the big time.

The Eagles were driving again until a weird tipped pass created a Patriots interception.

The Eagles got the ball down to the goal line and had a 4th and goal from the 1.

The Eagles took a lead into halftime.

The Patriots came out determined to get the ball to their Frankenstein’s Monster at TE.

The Eagles responded by driving back down the field and hitting a running back in the end zone for a touchdown. But wait! There might have been a bobble so it was “Is it a catch?” time…

The Patriots came right back and scored with Chris Hogan doing the bulk of the work.

If it seemed like this Super Bowl was missing something, you were right.

The Pats came back and scored to take a 1-point lead. Gronk again, because of course.

This was weird and they kept showing it.

Philly kept their foot on the gas and down by 1 went for it on 4th down in their own territory.

Unfortunately they ran out of bounds to preserve some clock for New England.

But Zach Ertz struck back with a touchdown grab that he fumbled and recovered as he went across the goal line to put the Eagles ahead.

Brady got the ball back with over 2 minutes to go and only a 5-point deficit. You’d seen this movie before. Except, the Eagles made a defensive play!

From there, the Eagles would kick a field goal to take an 8-point lead. The Patriots would get near midfield and get one Hail Mary to the end zone, but it fell incomplete and time expired.
