Who Needs A Bike? Steelers-Lions Tweetcap

by Ian

The Steelers went into Detroit on Sunday Night to put a punctuation mark on the first half of the season. With Martavis Bryant on the bench, rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster celebrated getting his stolen bike returned by putting on an absolute show in the Motor City. The defense gave up a ton of yards but buckled down in the red zone with multiple goal-line stands to force field goals and two forth down stops inside the 10. Here’s a look back at the best (and worst) of Twitter from the Steelers 20-15 win.

The Steelers drove easily down the filed but Eli Rogers dropped a touchdown pass on third down.

After holding the Lions to 3, Ben tried to force one to AB and it got picked off.

The defense stepped up and Heyward got a big sack to force a punt.

The people that have struggled all season continued to struggle.

Wasn’t as good over on the pond either, apparently.

Ben would hit a big pass to AB and the offense would wake up.

The offense started to pick up and continued to do good things in the two minute drill…

…until Le’Veon Bell shockingly fumbled on a 3rd and 1.

The defense held the Lions out of halftime and a bad punt set the Steelers up near midfield. They drove into Lions territory with Ben just missing a wide open DHB in the end zone.

AB caught a touchdown but got called for offensive pass interference

Boswell banked home a field goal off the upright to re-take the lead.

The Lions turned around and marched right back down the field but stood tall at the goal line and held on third down.

Rather than taking the lead with an easy field goal, the Lions opted to go for it on 4th and goal and Stafford got swarmed.

Every time the Steelers have the ball inside their own 5, I tweet that the longest play in Steelers history is 95 yards.

BUT NOT ANY MORE. On 3rd down Ben hit JuJu out of the slot right down the seam and JuJu was off to the races going 97 yards for the touchdown

The Lions drove down the field again but the Steelers defense held the door at the goal line.

The Lions kicked a field goal this time.

The Steelers went 3-and-out on a weird series.

The Lions were moving the ball before Golden Tate fumbled while running with the ball and Artie Burns recovered.

The Steelers were able to wind some clock but couldn’t get past midfield and punted it back to the Lions. The defense couldn’t stop the Lions passing game and they were quickly back inside the 10.

The defense stood tall and forced a 4th down as the clock hit two minutes.

Lions Twitter was thrilled by the third down call.

Javon Hargrave got pressure on 4th down and Stafford threw it right into Ryan Shazier’s hands. Shazier dropped the pick but got the turnover on downs.

With under two minutes to go, all the Steelers had to do was bleed the Lions out of timeouts by running the ball, but they tried to be too smart and throw. Thankfully, they got bailed out by a timely pass interference.

The Steelers were finally able to conquer the 3rd and 1 monster with a shovel pass to JuJu to seal it.
