Lemon Returns, Golson Getting Second Opinion on His Shoulder

by Steeldad

Just when you thought the Pittsburgh Steelers were in no mood for Lemons, they changed their mind. After releasing outside linebacker Shawn Lemon earlier in the week, the Steelers brought him back after he cleared waivers.

Lemon will head to the Reserve PUP List of the team. What this means is that because Lemon has yet to take the field, he can be on the list for six weeks and not count against the 53-man roster number. At that time however, the team has a three-week window with which to make a decision.

It was thought that Lemon was just not valuable enough to keep around with the depth at OLB but that is not the case. He’s been battling an Achilles’ injury which has limited his participation.

As for rookie and second round draft pick Senquez Golson, I’ve been told he is currently seeking a second opinion on his shoulder. Should it be relatively minor, he could miss perhaps a month. Should it be the labrum, then we are talking a lot more time.

Golson has yet to see any action so far in training camp and is thought to be a key piece in the Steelers’ defensive resurgence. His absence creates a significant whole in the depth of the secondary.
