Dear Mike Wallace, Please Go Away

by Steeldad

I realize I’m not speaking for all of the Steeler Nation Mike but I have a pretty strong feeling that most do not want you to return. The Mike Wallace days are a thing of the past.

I say this because reports earlier this week claim you would like to return to Pittsburgh. See, we have a pretty good thing going right now with our receiving corps.

That “Young Money Crew” trio you used to be a member of is gone. The one member that stayed has proven to be the one we wanted all along. I’m sure you recall the sting of knowing Antonio Brown got the contract deal you were hoping for right?

Your other “Crew” member took the money and ran to Denver just like you did when you bolted for Miami. Those dreams you had of riding your sea-doo in the Atlantic Ocean were too good to be true but you can always come back to cruise the Ohio if you’d like? You just aren’t going to be a Steeler if you do.

Yes, I know… You’re really fast. I loved watching you at your rookie training camp in Latrobe because of it. But we found out that your speed wasn’t everything. I mean, if it were, the Oakland Raiders would win the Super Bowl every year.

I for one do not miss your drops or your total lack of fight when it came to balls thrown in your direction. I also do not miss you running routes that left a lot to be desired and I certainly would not look forward to you having teammates speak for you when you get benched.

There were a few good times when you were in Pittsburgh Mike but they don’t come close to the negatives.

As much as it must be nice to think about returning, the Steelers have some real needs to address this offseason and wide receiver is not one of them. With this is in mind I wish you well Mike as you attempt to find your way out of South Florida.

Apparently the water wasn’t bluer in Miami…

I knew as soon as the offseason started that the Dolphins were going to shop him around or release him and somebody would bring up about Wallace coming back to the Steelers. I agree, just go away man, you’ve proven my thoughts all along…overrated and not near worth the money the Dolphins gave him.

So much promise and potential too. Some guys just don’t get it.
