Bell Three-Game Suspension is a Joke

by Steeldad

Pro Football Talk is reporting that Steelers’ Running Back Le’Veon Bell has been suspended by the NFL for three games to start the 2015 season.

While the suspension is not surprising, the length and overall punishment is. Bell was eligible to miss up to four games for his marijuana arrest last summer while operating a vehicle with former Steelers running back LeGarrette Blount. Most believed it would be a two-game ban however.

For the record, Blount was suspended for one game.

Not only is Bell going to miss the first three games of the season, but he was also fined a game check for the fourth week as well.

Let me be perfectly honest here; this is a crock of bull crap and anyone who knows the league recognizes this. I’m not for one second condoning what Bell did. He violated the law, was stupid and sure as hell shouldn’t have been behind the wheel of a car but three games?

Are we to consider that LeGarrette Blount is “smarter” because he wasn’t driving? Holy hell! What both men did as ignorant and they should both receive the same penalty shouldn’t they? Fine, if you want to give Bell the extra game because he was driving then that’s cool but how in the wide wide world of sports does the league come up with such a discrepancy in the discipline?

If you want me to go the “because he’s a Steeler and he’s a Patriot route” that’s too easy. I mean, it’s only been ten weeks since “deflate-gate” and yet we have no answer on that do we? In the meantime both the Browns and Falcons were slapped with penalties for their misdeeds.

Bell deserved to be suspended. This point I can’t deny, but three games?

How much you want to bet we open with New England, Seattle and Baltimore?

It’s quite simple Goodell is good friends with Robert Kraft and he won’t jeopardize his friendship with him and I believe Kraft influenced Goodell on his decision. Now I don’t have any proof but I’m sticking with the statement whether you people like it or not.

i’ll tell you why the punishment is so wrong. they know the ‘accident of birth’ rooney is a pussy and a pushover. if we had an owner with balls like kraft this would of never happened. i agree with you on our first three games.

I believe this will eventually get reduced to two games but it still sends the message that the Steelers are Goodell’s whipping boy.

If Bell was/ is a steady user just think how much better he should be if he’s clean. Just hope he’s smart enough to get it
