There’s Jay and Silent Bob, Bill and Ted, Harold and Kumar and of course Cheech and Chong. We now have a new duo to include and they would be LeGarrette and Le’Veon. These famous duos are of course famous because they were known pot smokers and I’m sure the Pittsburgh Steelers’ organization couldn’t be happier that two of their players are now on this esteemed list.
The team’s top two running backs, LeGarrette Blount and Le’Veon Bell were pulled over today on suspicion of marijuana use. Both were arrested for marijuana possession and Bell could face further chargers once blood alcohol tests are completed. A third person in the vehicle, a female, was also cited for possession.
[UPDATE: Hearing more and more they were not arrested but were ‘cited.’ Bell certainly facing more important charging of driving under the influence.]
The baffling part of this besides the sheer stupidity is the timing. They were pulled over around 130pmET and the team plane was to have been departing not long after that for the brief flight to Philadelphia. The Steelers’ website showed them landing in Philly at 4:28pmET.
Whether Bell and Blount were on the plane is not known to me but one way or another it appears they enjoying getting high before they ‘get high.’
All jokes aside this is a disturbing story especially for Bell who has been overwhelmingly accepted by the Steeler Nation in just his second year. Blount has had issues in his past so I’m not totally surprised but Bell being so stupid and irresponsible is troubling to me.
While it’s extremely hard to figure out the disciplinary protocols of Roger Goodell these days, it looks pretty likely that both will face a one-game suspension. This is far from certain however. What is certain is that Steeler fans should allow this to serve as a lesson.
Many were more than happy to rip on the Baltimore Ravens and Ray Rice and/or Cleveland and Josh Gordon. Well, karma is a real bitch isn’t it?These two just proved that now sports organization is safe from stupidity.
Oh, remember that nice quiet preseason our beloved Steelers were having? Ya well, that just went up in smoke.
